The Tattered Tent Analogy

I am convinced once again, GOD loves me.

My soon-to-be princess bride friend, Ann, (that's me and her @ her house from x years ago) jst (9.50pm) called me all the way from Canada after reading my last blog! We had a good over an hour chat! (11.10pm)

How i miss those girly chats.. and this time, we can talk about what's closest to our hearts now, our relationship w GOD. It is these heart to heart chats with people that know my soul and share the same Spirit that refreshes me time and again.

Ann shared with me a great illustration from "Miracles Do Happen" written by Briege McKenna,a lady entrusted w a healing ministry:

In a dream or vision one day, Breige sees Jesus entering a tattered tent and asked Him to stop coz its really in a bad shape.. only to hear the response "what do you mean? i live here!". He calls Briege to join him in this tattered tent, realising then, that this tent is her heart. Like Martha, she starts busying herself with fixing this tattered tent.. cos Jesus is in the house! Man, she's just got to fix it. How could he allow Jesus to stay in this tattered tent of hers, how ugly those tatters look! 'Look at me,' He says. 'Don't worry about the tent, just be with Me.' Not long after, Briege hears sounds of people coming up to her tent and she gets up and excuses herself from Jesus because these people are looking for her to heal them. Then Jesus tells her ' Briege, sit down. These people are here to see Me. Just be still, stay with Me and be with Me'

All i typed is paraphrased in some way i'm sure but the idea is there. "These people are here to see Me." - Those words hit home for me. and how about the "tent fixing" compulsion? the "m not good enough.. gotta fix myself for God" mentality.

i guess all this doesn't make sense in bridging my thoughts from the previous blog.. but it all makes perfect harmony to me.

Spent some time in the afternoon after my xray ( my goat-like feature? it's osteoma..benign bony tumour of the skull :)) reading the book by Philip Yancy, The Jesus I Never Knew. I am so blown away by the book.. it is a must read! from historical and cultural background, Philip Yancy tries to paint a picture of how it was like living in Jesus' time.. there were a few passages that stuck out to me, will take time to digest it and perhaps blog abt it some day.

Meanwhile.. "These people are here to see me" is enough. Let me be still enough and welcome Him with my heart in all its tattered glory so that the people can see Him there.

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." - 2 Cor 4:7

  1. Hi Vee! Loved our girly talk too... I miss you! In all our excitement talking about our First Love and our journeys with Him, I forgot I had wanted to ask you about your x-ray!
Btw, I think that photo was taken the night I had a BBQ at my place to celebrate Zibin & my ROM. That was August 2003!
