Tony Inspired Blog

Inspired by Tony's
round-the-circle qtn last nite at the ENY/ENCM chalet.. i am posting
the top 3 Christian songs that mean the most to me.. whether its
because they remind me of a certain season of my life, or because of
the lyrics or whichever reason it may be:

One Pure and Holy Passion - Passion
Give me one pure and holy passion

Give me one magnificent obsession

Give me one glorious ambition for my life

To know and follow hard after you

To grow as your disciple in the truth

This world is empty, pale, and poor

Compared to knowing you my Lord

Lead me on and I will run after you

Lord to know and follow hard after you

And to grow as your disciple in your truth

This world is empty, pale, and poor

Compared to knowing you my Lord

Lead me on and I will run after you (x3)

Hungry - Kathryn Scott
Hungry, I come to you,
For I know you satisfy.
I am empty, but I know
Your love does not run dry.

Chorus
And so I wait for you,
So I wait for you.
I’m falling on my knees,
Offering all of me.
Jesus, you’re all this heart is living for.

Broken, I run to you,
For your arms are open wide.
I am weary, but I know
Your touch restores my life.

The
third song is a chinese worship song. I remember it was the first time
my parents came to church and it was when we had a chinese service in
MS (now EN). And the moment Daniel Ng who was leading worship sang the
first line, my eyes seemed to have sprung a leak and the tears wouldn't stop streaming! i don't really know why the outburst.. it was a sudden thing. But i was so so moved. And i was
honestly trying NOT to cry coz i was sandwiched btwn my mum and dad
then and i didn't want them to be freaked out by their daughter who's
behaving strangely or smthg and think i'm in a wierd church. Anyway, i love this song. i love chinese worship
songs, and not those translated Hillsongs ones, mind you.. but those
genuinely composed out of a chinese heart. Though i admittedly do not
have the best grasp of chinese and though i can't say i love the
Chinese language. Yet there's something about my mother tongue that
moves me like no amount English words can. So perhaps, i do love it?
just that i only wish i was better at it :)

耶和华祝福满满 (Jehovah's Blessings Abound)

中的白鷺絲 無欠缺什麼

山頂的百合花 春天現香味

總是全能的上帝,每日賞賜真福氣

使地上發芽結實,現出愛疼的根據

The birds of the fields lack nothing
The white lilies on the mountiantops are fragrant in Spring
That's all because of the daily blessings of the Almighty God

Who causes the new saplings to grow, Displaying the source of Love (need translation help here)

耶和華祝福滿滿 親像海邊土沙

恩典慈愛直到萬世代

我要舉手敬拜祂 出歡喜的歌

讚美稱頌祂名永不息

Jehovah's blessings abound like the sands by the shores
His grace and mercies through thousands of generations
I want to raise my hands to worship Him, sing songs of joy
To praise His name forever more

all rite.. the English translations are the best i can do so far and it looks so simple but believe me, its ALOT more poetic if u knew it in Chinese. anyone has a better translation..let me know! :)

  1. Hey, thanks for blogging the lyrics Ivy ... and for singing the songs at the chalet for everyone in the circle :-) Agree wholeheartedly with the part about Chinese having an intriguing ability to move.

  2. Hello, thank you for your sharing on the lyrics.. came across this entry when I searched multiply for 'one pure and holy passion'. Both english songs really cut deep to the desire to be so real in our pursuit of our God, something which I'm learning all over again anew now..to pursue Him with all I am.

God bless you, Ivy (which incidentally is my mum's name too :) ).

    現出愛疼的根據
IMHO, this can be translated into, tell of His wonderful love (or, displaying the evidence of His love)

Thanks for translating, I'm doing a ppt and singing the song for my friend's wedding this sat.. :)

  4. How about 現出愛疼的根據 translated into "revealing His wonderful love"?
