The Best Gift

It just dawned on me yesterday... that the best gift received, is the one that is least expected and given for no reason apart from giving it itself :)

I was shopping ard with a friend and i saw a really cute notebook that said 'Not Just a Pretty Face'.. and was thinking perhaps i could get it for Amanda, my sis as a Xmas gift. Then i remembered that Gary and I had already bought a gift and given it to her so it was kinda like, o too bad. But because i liked it soo much, i bought it anyway thinking i could give it to someone else in future. As i was on my way back, a thought struck me: Why do i have to give a gift for a reason? Why can't i give a gift just because i thought of someone? Wat a Singaporean way of thinking.. haha.. that EVERYTHING must have a reason!

Anyway, i gave it to Amanda last nite ( tho admittedly, it was after some hesistation, coz for a moment, i was thinking of keeping it for myself - o, selfish heart of mine!), no wrapping, no nothing.. but she was SOO happy! She had the same sentiments as I.. that it was SOOO CUTE! hehe and she was actually more delighted with it than our X'mas gift to her *hmmm*

So yah.. i've concluded that i should jst start to give gifts or cards jst because i thought of somebody.. without a reason (bdays, special occasions). Think it'll make more people happy :) Realised that's how God is as well with us. He doesn't gift us because of things we have done or special occasions, but because He thinks of us (psalm 139:17) and wants to give us good gifts! (Matt 7:11)

And of course the Best Gift He gave to us all is celebrated this Christmas..This undeserved and special Gift should put more than a delighted smile on our faces! Merry Christmas, everyone!
