Just About My Sis

Had all these pics taken with my phone camera, so the quality's not so great but it'll do for this blog.

While my maid was away, my sis, Amanda, was so excited to cook my dinner and so, here's the very first dinner that she's made for me. She insisted that she cooked it instead of Gary buying dinner for me.

Was really sweet and kind of her :*) It was not too bad actually, abit too much spring onion for my taste, but overall not bad :)

I've such a wonderful sis :)

 This is a
blurred pic of the ring Gary and I bought for her for her 18th birthday! I can't believe she's 18 already!!! She was just 13 yo when she first came to Singapore and now she's a young lady. This was a promise ring we got for her, the kind of ring that should only come off on the day her husband puts the wedding ring on her as he takes up the responsibility of caring for and loving her.  When i first heard of this concept from Ps Ferdie Cabiling and what he did for Elizabeth , his daughter when she turned 13, i thought it was the sweetest, most meaningful thing a father could do for his daughter - to know that he is here protecting and providing for her, until a gentleman comes along that is able to commit to take over this role in marriage.

Though we are not her parents, and we may not be related by blood, we've come to love her as part of our very own family. She's been such a vital part of our family that's changed our lives so much. She's surely changed much of mine -- having her around has shown me so much of my selfishness and lack of love. Just when u think u're pretty good, God brings people along the way to show you how much further you need to go and how much you need to depend on Him.

As a side joke, we also told her that if the stone she gets from her future hubby is any smaller than what we got (which is really really small, coz we just wanted to get a simple ring), then it is a CLEAR sign that he needs to go. :P

Honestly, i don't know how parents do it -- watching their children grow up, learning to create things for themselves, and entering into new phases of their lives. Amanda's not even a daughter, but it's already hard just watching her grow up as her sister. To the parents who've given so much and poured their lives into their children, and then choosing to let go and let them grow, I salute you.

If anything, I've realised that letting go, be it situations or people, is one of the biggest faith step anyone can take.
