A Run To Remember

Last night's Campus Harvest ended with a challenge from Ps Steve Murrell on what it means to live life to full.

Ecclesiastes 4:8, speaks of a man all alone, with neither son nor brother, and to which all his toil, lead to a meaningless existence. A meaningful existence entails

1) Having "sons", or people that are following after you, people to whom you are imparting to.

2) Having "brothers", or people that are walking with you, as you live out the destiny and plans of God in your life. People that'd fan the flame of God in you in times that it would dwindle, in times when the hottest object, can grow lukewarm due to the winds and storms of life.

It is then, to reach the next generation, with others alongside you.

Summarized in 2 words, a full life is this: meaningful relationships

Relationships with people are the only things that we carry on to eternity (that is if they are people also in Christ), when all else will be left behind: our careers, investment account, money, sports car, condominium, travelling experiences. it has been a privilege to have some of the most amazing people around me walk with me and invest in my life the last 8 years and kept this passion for Jesus burning.

Thank you,

To my pastors and campus minister who took in a wandering sheep into their flock 7-8yrs ago: Ps Larry Matsuwaki, Johnny Pons (New Life Christian Fellowship)

To those who have taken me in as a "daughter" from all over the world: Nadia Robles (Peru), Marilyn Milan-Milligan (Philippines), Brian Milligan (South Africa) and Praise Mok (Singapore)

To those who have been my brothers and sisters in arms for the last 8 years and kept the passion for Jesus burning and growing older with me.. (physically and spiritually)

To those who wisely choose to follow me ONLY as i follow Christ, and made my life so much fuller with yours.

These last 8 years has been amazing but I know that the journey is still long and a far way off. I am always reminded that it's not how well we start, but how well we finish this race. I constantly hope that those with whom i started the race with, will also end it with me at the end and we may all say at the end, "we have fought the good fight, we have finished the race and we have kept the faith"! (2 Tim 4:7)

When we stumble, as we all will, let's pick each other up; when we lose hope, let's encourage each other with the hope in Christ; when we've stopped believing in ourselves, let's believe enough for both of us and never stop believing in the best of each other.

Let's make this a run to remember, with Jesus as our coach. Run with me, will you?

  4. Ivy, thank you for this stark reminder!
Though we're halfway across the world from each other and we haven't actually hung out a lot, you have encouraged me SO much in my faith and walk with the Lord!
    Thank you :)

  5. Thank-you for your kind words, Ibee, we are blessed and want to say that you are a great spiritual daughter and will be a wonderful spiritual mother to many. As we have freely received, we freely give. All glory to the Lord for what He has done in your life and what He is yet to do! It is going to be awesome! Love, the parents of Morgan.
