The Greatest Lover of All

First, i want to say a BIG THANK YOU to a very sweet sister in Christ, Kristine Wong! :)

Kris surprised me with a nice bouquet of sunflowers today before PnP.. just out of the kindness and sweetness of her heart. Thank you so much, sis!

Which brings me back to my title.. of The Greatest Lover Of All, on how awesome God is. This bouquet of flowers seems almost timed by the Lord as i shall explain in awhile:

Just yesterday, i met with a friend and her boyfriend came by to pick her up with a sweet bouquet of 3 roses for her, which i thought briefly was a very sweet gesture coz there was no special occasion or whatever. Later on that night, Amanda, my sis, and i somehow got onto the topic of relationships etc.  She was at some point swooning over how she thinks its sweet when this guy does this or that thing for his girlfriend etc.. and then so she started asking, "have you been in love before?" or in chinese,“ 你有没有谈过恋爱? She also started speculating on the kind of guy i'd be married to or what she felt i should marry.. types of guys she liked and didn't like etc.

The conversation led to me sharing why it helps to wait for the right person and the right time in getting into a relationship, and until then, to live out all that God has for you as a unique individual! There are so many things we can take for granted as a young single if we're not careful. The opportunity to make choices to travel, to study, to spend time with friends, make new friends, to make disciples, to rest etc.. are gifts from God for this season in your life.

While it doesn't mean you can't do that when you're in a relationship or marriage, but the amount of time that you spend with your "other-half" would most definitely take away time for the other things as well. And if the season of spending time with your "other-half" and/or family is the the season God has put you in, then being in that season is part of living out all of GOd's purpose for your life too and we need to maximise those times! But if you are doing that in the wrong season, then you've missed out on another chunk of impt part of His great plans and purposes for you, possibly missing out on impacting other lives that He'd laid out for you. It's like u spending ur whole holiday in say, New Zealand walking in a mall that u can find in Singapore when you should really be out there looking at the fields and mountains. By the time u are back in SG, even if you wanted to, u wouldn't be able to step out to see those mountains again.. it's too late! No matter how brilliant a person is, no one can turn back time. If you squander that season of your life on wrong things, that's it.

Of course, there's also the affection part of a romantic relationship.. the "Awwww.. he/she's so sweet" feeling.. the "i'm the most super blessed person in the world, i feel so special" feeling, that you won't get out of doing the other things with other people.

But, there IS Someone that is loving you, every day of our lives. He is loving you, singing over you with songs of love (the wind,  the birds, mabbe rustlin of trees, a melody made of laughter), He is protecting you,  sends you flowers (look around at the fields, in SG is abit harder to see but just look out for dandelion and blow it out!) and He's unselfish - He lets you spend time with others, but He is ALSO jealous when you forget about Him. While the flowers that come from a giftshop or florist are really stunning, God provides beauty in the world around us that no florist, giftshop can sell. He's offered it to you and I , for free, so we may enjoy it with Him, any time, any day. Just because something is given to you free, it doesn't mean it's of less or no value. If someone gave you an iPhone for free, it doesn't mean its worth nothing! Someone had paid a price for it, whether the manufacturer or the buyer. It's just that, our God is sooo generous!

I just thought it was so cool that today, through Kris, it's almost like God was saying "I remember you. These flowers, were grown for you, for this day". Like Him giving affirmation not just to me, but to Amanda, that God knows, remembers and loves her, and He is also a God of romance. You don't need a boyfriend/ girlfriend to feel cherished and special.

I mentioned in a previous blog before, that some of the best gifts in life are the ones given freely with no reason for it, but for the fact the person just thought of you and wanted to give to you. And that's how our GOD is, He gives His gifts freely, in the best time and best way He knows how. He is the giver of all good gifts, and He never takes back his words or his heart in what He has said to you and what He meant those gifts and words to represent.

What a wonderful God we have and what a great lover He is! What i shared here really does Him very little justice, but I just want to say, He is GOOD.

Thanks so much again, Kris, for alllowing yourself to be a channel of God's love to me (and others), not just in the form of the flowers, but in you being my sister in Christ!  Your kind thoughts and gesture were so well-timed by God. May He bless you back a thousand fold in kindness and love in your life!

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us..

Romans 5:8

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
      Before the difficult days come,

And the years draw near when you say “ I have no pleasure in them”

Ecc 12:1

Good advice but sometimes though, God sends us special people to show and to express to us how much He loves us. Their love could not replace God's love for us but it could be a foretaste of God's love for us because sometimes we are so "unlovable" yet these people continue to love us. We could choose to love them in return but this love should not surpass our love for God.

Hahaha! I myself married a sweetheart!
