This is a transcript of a sermon by John McArthur, possibly one of the best Bible Teachers of all times and here he talks about Finding God's Will for your life.. whether in marriage, business decisions, career decisions etc. Titled, Found: God's Will, he demystifies the "search for God's will" in our lives.
i got this link from Kim's site and was absolutely intimidated by the length of it when the webpage loaded.. but as i got to the part about being controlled by the filling of the Holy Spirit i was hooked and intrigued.
What i love most really, is one of his ending stanzas below, which must be qualified by first reading the the rest of the article:
"If you’re saved, spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, suffering and thankful – you ready for this? Do whatever you want. Do whatever you want. Marry whoever you want. Go wherever you want. Work wherever you want. Choose whatever you want. You say, “Whoa. Are you sure?” Absolutely. Because if this is true of your life, guess who’s controlling your wants.
.... Here’s the verse. Psalm 37:4, you ready for this? “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” That doesn’t mean he’ll fulfill yours, it means he’ll plant his. You delight in the Lord, saved, spirit-filled, submissive, all of those things. You delight in the Lord and he will plant his desires in your heart."Again i say, the above stanzas MUST be qualified with understanding the 6 "wills" of God.. being saved, spirit-filled, sanctified , submissive , suffering and thankful as he has expounded so clearly. Do take some time to read or download the audio that's also available!
thank you Ivy, for this link. Really needed to hear something like this at this juncture.
ReplyDeletewaaaaah!!! its sooooo true and good!!! highly recommended!!
ReplyDeleteI love everything said in it but this one spoke to me a lot!
I"""n Psalm 143 in verse 10, David prayed that prayer. Listen to what David said. He said, “Lord, teach me to do your will.” He didn’t say, “Teach me to understand your will.” He didn’t say, “Teach me to know your will.” He didn’t say, “Help me find your will.” He didn’t say, “God, please disclose your will, reveal your will, manifest your will.” He said, “Lord, teach me to do your will.” Which carries the presupposition and the assumption that it was not a matter of information, but it was a matter of obedience. It wasn’t a matter of knowing it, it was a matter of doing it. He doesn’t ask God to reveal his will, he simply says, “Empower me to do it,” which assumes that he knew what it was""""
Grace to you (www.gty.org) - John McArthur - do u know that the SG ministry/church gives away free bibles/sermons/books when you write in to them (http://gtysg.org/) . Used to listen to his online podcast, also got JA study bible. This guy shreds da meat to small bits... yet makes my head bit thick if i sit on them & dun apply them in my own life =P
