Gil has been around since i stumbled into EN (then MS Singapore) 6 years ago, Feb 2001 and though not many people know this, but a big part of the reason why i'm in EN (apart from God) is because of her!
I remember after my first visit to the EN that day, Gil kept in touch with me by emailing me to ask me how I am and would encourage me and answer my ponderings and questions about God as a young Christian. I remembered just being super blessed by her sincerity and the time that she was willing to spend writing the email to answer the questions of this new kid on the block.
In the way she would look into your eyes and speak to you, Gil always made you feel you were someone truly important. and though i must admit that i was did feel intimidated by the intensity of her looks in the beginning, but then i realised that's how she shows that she values what you say. In terms of valuing pp, Gil gives everyone a 10!
Thank you, Gil, for the giant heart you have to contain all the pp you love and have loved. I love it when you ask about people that are somewhat behind the scenes, people that we know that are not plugged in and for all your love and concern for them. You've always been one to want to love your God with your all, and i cannot think even of a single moment you've held back anything from Him.
I love your laughter, it'll be one thing i will surely miss having around! You're such a beauitful sister, and its been such an honor to grow with you in the Lord the last 6 years. Thank you for reflecting the beauty of God only the way you do. Thank you for being someone that i can share my heart with, thank you for being a confidante and a friend. Thank for having been there for me right in the beginning and thank you for choosing to impact lives the best way you know how.
And though i am honestly sad that you are leaving (i don't like friends leaving...:( ), i know that this has been a dream of yours for a long time and for that, i'm happy! "Hope deferred makes a heart sick but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life"! i know that as you continue to abide in Christ, you're going bear such a fruitful life that will sustain not just yourself but many around you.
God bless you, Gil! May He surround you with many more loving friends wherever you go and through you, bring many more into the kingdom of life!
Oh tell Gillian i'll miss her too:) I agree to what you said about Gil that she makes people feel important. I felt that when she accomodated me during the APEC in there. Pls say hi to Gil for me:)

ReplyDeleteHi Ivy, hope Gil can read this (We need to get her on Multiply! :-)) I have the same experience also with Gil, I think she was very instrumental why I came back after my first lifegroup (or cell group during those days) meeting. Again, thanks for chatting to me, when we had that first meeting near Donita's Oxley Rise condo pool. Hope to see you back here next time! Or hopefully I could visit Seattle sometime in the future.
